Dr. Matthew D. Young grew up in Due West, South Carolina, and is a second generation urologist, with his father having practiced in Elberton, Georgia, for many years. Dr. Young was an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was selected for the prestigious North Carolina Fellows Program. He graduated with distinction and went on to receive his medical degree from the UNC School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in the Division of Urology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He has published numerous articles in professional journals, presented his research at several professional meetings, and has been the recipient of the Duke Urology Academic Achievement Award.
