Dr. David C. Allen grew up in Athens and attended the University of Tennessee on a football scholarship. As an undergraduate, he received many academic honors as well as being named the school's scholar-athlete. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis, where he was president of the Medical Honor Council for two years and recipient of the school's Community Service Award. Dr. Allen's internship and residency were completed at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. His training included two years of specialized training in general surgery and three years in urology. He was named chief resident with training in renal transplantation and pediatrics. Dr. Allen founded The Urology Clinic in 1984 and the ambulatory surgery center, Georgia Lithotripsy and Laser Center, in 1990.
